Karim Benzema conrinued his goal scoring streak for Real Madrid but it only earned his team a draw as they were held to a 1-1 draw by city rivals Leganes at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque on Monday night.
Leganes paraded Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo for 90 minutes.
Madrid had won three of their four matches under Zinedine Zidane ahead of the game but they struggled to create chances and had to battle back from a goal down for the fourth game running.
Benzema scored in the 51st minute to cancel out Jonathan Silva’s opener through the final meaningful kick of the first half, making it a combined 10 goals and assists in his last six outings.
There was to be no three points for the visitors, however, meaning that they dropped points against their Madrilean rivals for the first time in the league.
