Bayern Munich on Wednesday confirmed that France’s World Cup-winning defender Benjamin Pavard will join them in the summer.
Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic announced the news with the Bundesliga champions activating the Stuttgart centre-half’s £31m release clause.
Pavard was as one of the stars of France’s World Cup triumph in Russia, with his wonder goal against Argentina in the second round awarded the goal of the World Cup.
Pavard whose club are struggling this season and hoping to avoid relegation played six matches in Russia.
Salihamidzic also confirmed the Bavarians’ interest in Chelsea winger Callum Hodson-Odoi who was in action for 79 minutes in Chelsea’s 0-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semifinals match at Wembley Stadium.
