Clubs all over the World are in a hurry to beat the transfer deadline in a bid to wrap up deals as the transfer window closes.

Miguel Almiron has joined Newcastle from MLS side Atlanta United in a club-record deal.

Newcastle have paid £21m for the midfielder, breaking their previous transfer record  the £16.5m signing of Michael Owen from Real Madrid in 2005.

Almiron, 24, has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with Newcastle and will wear the No 24 shirt.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill turned down potential moves to Juventus, Monaco and Fulham during the January transfer window.

Chelsea were prepared to allow Cahill to leave the club in January with the England international having made only seven appearances this season but he has decided to fight on for a starting berth.

Peter Crouch will have a medical at Burnley on Deadline Day with Sam Vokes heading in the opposite direction to Stoke.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that veteran striker Peter Crouch will be arriving at Turf Moor from Stoke City, with Sam Vokes moving the other way.

Fulham are in talks with Cameroon captain Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui over a proposed move as they look to shore up their defence in their fight against relegation.
