Arsenal are through to the semi final of the Europa League after getting a 1-0 win in Naples over Napoli with Lacazette whipping home a free kick in the first half.
Arsenal took a first leg advantage of 2-0 to Italy and knew they an away goal would further strengthen their already bright chance of qualifying to the next round.
Emery started Aubameyang and Lacazette together upfront and it was the French man that won a free kick and converted it by himself to all but quench Napoli’s hopes.
Hom side Napoli threatened first as they looked determined to over turn Arsenal’s first led advantage.
Lacazette was dispossessed by Kalidou Koulibaly, who charged forward on the break in the 17th minute and collected Fabian Ruiz’s pass to find Jose Callejon.
Petr Cech denied Callejon before Milik fluffed his lines from a close-range header.
Nikola Maksimovic fouled Lacazette 25 yards from goal and the France striker concerted the free kick strike beyond a motionless Alex Meret in the Napoli goal, with 36 minutes on the clock.
Faouzi Ghoulam and Callejon both fired wide as the home team tried in vain to build an ambitious final charge.
Milik’s woeful attempt to slide home at the back post with 15 minutes to play did not help matters.
Arsenal defended resolutely to keep an away clean sheet and progress 3-0 on aggregate where they would face Unai Emery’s former side, Valencia in the semi final.
Arsenal have kept nine clean sheets in their last 11 European games, conceding just four goals in total in that period.
Napoli have lost three consecutive European games for the first time since February 2013.
