These are Footytool’s most impressive XI last weekend across European leagues as presented by Izuchukwu Okosi. This however excludes games played midweek.

GOAL


Thibaut Courtois

Real Madrid secured a 1-0 win over Sevilla away on Sunday evening and Belgian goalkeeper Courtous was impressive in that game.

DEFENCE
Ruben Pena


The Villarreal defender made a goal line clearance which was one of four clearances in a 2-0 win against Real Valladolid. He also had six tackles and a blocked shot to his credit in a match he had 104 touches of the ball.

Dani Carvajal


The Real Madrid right back had a commanding performance in Real Madrid’s slim win against Sevilla.

Carvajal won four defensive tackles, made three interceptions, four clearances and provided an assist.

Dayot Upamecano

RB Leipzig romped to a 3-0 win against Weder Bremen and instrumental in keeping the clean sheet was Dayot Upamecano.

The centre back made three defensive tackles, six clearances including from the goal line; he also won one aerial duel.

Aaron Cresswell

West Ham United left back Aaron Cresswell scored a spectacular freekick as the Hammers defeated Manchester United 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The England international completed three tackles, one interception and two clearances.

Nathan Ake

Completing the five man defensive shape is Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake who scored in his club’s 3-1 away win against Southampton on Friday evening.

He had two interceptions, won two aerial duels, blocked one goal bound shot and made one tackle.

MIDFIELD

In midfield, there were many contenders for a place for three positions but we have gone for one player in Spain, England and Italy.

Mikel Oyarzabal

Oyarzabal provided an assist in Real Sociedad’s 3-1 away win over Espanyol. His all round showing was fantastic.

Matteo Guendouzi

The Arsenal 20 year-old midfielder was culpable for Aston Villa’s first goal in the first half but had a far more better performance as the Gunners won 3-2 – fouled for the penalty scored by Nicolas Pepe in the second half.

Nicola Barrela

Inter Milan won the Milan derby 2-0 on Saturday evening and Barrela assisted Romelu Lukaku’s goal.

ATTACK
Robert Lewandowski scored a brace in Bayern Munich’s 4-0 thrashing of FC Koln.

The goals bring his season tally in the league to nine goals.

Neymar Jnr

Neymar scored a spectacular overhead kicked goal in PSG’s 1-0 win over Lyon on Sunday night.

The Brazilian was however substituted off in the second half.
