Juventus secures 4-2 win away at stubborn Benevento

Juventus continued to stake their claim for a seventh consecutive Scudetto as they pull further from the chasing pack led by Napoli with a hard fought win away at basement boys Benevento.

The old lady were forced into an extremely tough 90 minutes but eventually conquered Benevento 4-2 after a Paulo Dybala hat-trick and Douglas Costa scorcher.

One could hardly tell that there were 65 points separating both teams going by the keenly contested nature of the game.

The home side showed their fighting spirit as they twice fought back to equalise through Cheick Diabate on both occasions after Dybala had twice put Juve in the lead via curler into the far top corner and a penalty awarded via VAR.

Just as it seemed as though the match could be heading for a stalemate, substitute Gonzalo Higuain rather sneakily won himself a penalty by dangling his leg to meet that of Nicolas Viola and Dybala converted again to make it 2-3.

Douglas Costa finished off any Benevento hopes with a sensational solo effort, cutting inside from the right to fly into the far top corner from the edge of the area.

In all fairness, the result  was a bit flattering for Juve as Benevento will feel as though they deserve at least a draw but the it does mean that the champions extend their lead at the top to 7 points at least temporarily till Napoli play while the hosts remain bottom and favourites for relegation.
