Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have won the #FACupFinal after recording an emphatic 6-0 victory against Watford at Wembley.

Raheem Sterling netted a hat-trick and goals by David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne & Gabriel Jesus handed The Citizens their 6th title. #EmiratesFACupFinal

Sterling is the fourth player to score a hat-trick in an FA Cup final, after William Townley for Blackburn in 1890, Jimmy Logan for Notts County in 1894 and Stan Mortensen for Blackpool in 1953.

City had the domestic treble in sights going into this encounter, while Watford had a rare chance of winning a trophy.

Watford went close through Roberto Pereyra who had a one on one with Ederson but the Brazilian goalkeeper rushed out early enough to keep him out.

Watford had  a strong appeal for a penalty waved away soon after.

Manchester City took the lead through David Silva’s smart finish from 12 yards in the 26th minute.

It was 2-0 soon after as Sterling hammered home on the goal-line after Gabriel Jesus had steered the ball towards goal.

City took a 2-0 lead into halftime but would come out to score twice that amount of goals in the second 45 minutes.

Substitute Kevin De Bruyne got City’s third with a close-range finish having rounded Heurelho Gomes in the 61st minute.

Jesus got his goal seven minutes later,  finishing coolly under Gomes after De Bruyne had slipped him through on goal.

Man of the match,  Sterling got his second late on  at the far post from Bernardo Silva’s fine pass.

Sterling completed his hat-trick with three minutes to go as City claimed their sixth FA Cup victory to go alongside their Premier League and Carabao Cup success this season.

Manchester City are the first English top-flight side to register 50 wins in all competitions in a single season.

City are just the fourth men’s team to win both major domestic cup competitions in the same season, after Arsenal in 1992/93, Liverpool in 2000/01 and Chelsea in 2006/07.

City are only the third side to score six goals in an FA Cup final, after Blackburn against Sheffield Wednesday in 1890 (6-1) and Bury against Derby in 1903 (6-0).

City have scored 26 goals in the 2018/19 FA Cup – the most by a team in a single season in the competition since Charlton netted 29 and Derby scored 37, both in 1945/46.

Raheem Sterling has been directly involved in 41 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions this season (26 goals, 15 assists), a figure bettered only by Sergio Aguero among Premier League players (42).
