Chelsea have reportedly agreed to extend Mario Pasalic’s loan with by another year after a successful 2018/19 season in Bergamo.
The midfielder spent the just-concluded season in Atalanta as they achieved an historic third-place Serie A finish while also qualifying for the Champions League.
The loan contracted included an option to buy for €15Million which the Orobici have declined to trigger, but it appears he will remain in Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad for next season, as Chelsea have reportedly agreed to simply renew the loan for another 12 months.
The Croatian midfielder is under contract with Chelsea until June 2021 but it doesn’t look like he has any sort of future at the club.
He did have a great season in Italy though, as he scored eight goals and provided six assists in his 42 competitive appearances for Atalanta.
The 24-year-old has been on Chelsea’s books since 2014 but is yet to make a single appearance in English football having been on several loan spells with Elche, Monaco, Milan, Spartak Moscow and Atalanta.
