Arsenal youth goalkeeper of Nigerian descent Arthur Okonkwo has signed his first professional contract at the north London club.
Okonkwo, according to Arsenal blogger on youth football, Jeorge Bird, had hitherto rejected a scholarship contract but following the departures of some of the club’s custodians who might have blocked his chances of regular football decided to stay put.
Now Okonkwo who is the first choice keeper of the U-18 side have also been named in some of the U-23 matches.
According to the report Arsenal have also revealed that another Arsenal youngster of Nigerian heritage, winger Bukayo Saka, has also signed his first professional contract.
