Flying Eagles of Nigeria are out of the FIFA U-20 World cup as Paul Aigbogun’s side suffered a 2-1 loss against fellow African side, Senegal at the round of 16 stage.
Senegal finished as top of group A while Nigeria qualified for the round of 16 as one of the four best losers, after finishing 3rd in group D.
Sagna gave Senegal the lead in the 36th minute as his pace was a problem for Salawudeen, Rabiu and Utin at the back for the Flying Eagles.
The goal was Sagna’s 4th of the tournament, having scored three goals in his first game of the world cup.
Niane doubled the lead for Senegal just at the end of the first half as Senegal took a 2-0 lead into halftime, with Flying Eagles defence all over the place.
A well taken free kick by Success Makanjuola was deflected in by Nigeria’s number 10, Okon to keep Nigerian hopes alive in the 50th minute but Senegal held on for a crucial win as they progress to the quarter finals.
