Barcelona needed a late Luis Suarez goal to defeat Arsenal 2-1 Sunday night at the Nou Camp to lift the 2019 Joan Gamper trophy.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored Arsenal’s goal in the 36th minute when he turned brilliantly from a Mesut Ozil pass.
Arsenal resisted Barcelona’s threats of scoring albeit an Antoine Griezmann’s goal from a cheeky Ivan Rakitic’s footwork was rightly disallowed for offside.
Barcelona however got level through Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ calamitous own goal.
Former Liverpool man Suarez then came off the bench to score a clinical late volley for the La Liga champions.
The La Liga champions, Barcelona, will begin the defence of their title on August 16 against Atletico Bilbao while Arsenal will be away to Newcastle next week Sunday in week one of the English Premier League.
