Algeria overcame Ivory coast 4-3 via penalty shootout in a highly entertaining quarter final clash after both sides played out a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.
Kodjia levelled matters for Ivory Coast in the 62nd minute to cancel out Feghouli’s first half strike while Bounedjah missed a penalty in the 48th minute which would have had Algeria 2-0 up.
The penalty miss was not too fatal for Algeria as they progressed at the expense of Ivory Coast during the penalty shootout winning 4-3 with Wilfried Bony missing a spot kick.
Bony’s poor penalty to the goalkeeper’s right proved comfortable for M’bolhi, the Algerian goalkeeper to deal with.
Another missed spot kick from Serey Die sent Ivory Coast crashing out of the Nations Cup as his attempt hit the left-hand post as Algeria booked their place in the last four.
